Project Description
SB Projects initially undertook an analysis of the subject site and surrounding locality for the proposed creaked stablisation development, including all relevant statutory planning controls applying to the site and the environmental assessment of proposed works with regards to planning controls.
Creek stability and revegetation works were then carried out at the site to prevent ongoing erosion, as bank instability was resulting in loss of land at 2152 Castlereagh Street, Penrith, with a likely result in damage to buildings and infrastructure located in the southern corner of the site.
Tthe project involved:
– 1 x 1 x 2 m sawn sandstone blocks tied into the toe of the creek bank, along a portion of the right bank and a small portion of the left bank to protect against ongoing undercutting and bank failure.
– A 1 x 1 x 2 m sawn sandstone block mattress lying across the creek bed, downstream of proposed bank works, to protect the bed which is currently being eroded.
– A layer of 20 mm – 70 mm sandstone spalls overlying a geotextile placed underneath the proposed sandstone blocks.
– Rock armouring of the top of creek bank at the existing stormwater outlet of the site to dissipate flows and protect against further erosion.
– Revegetation and weed management works in accordance with the Vegetation Management Plan.
